RTL to stop teletext service from April

RTL will from 1 April stop offering news via teletext (RTL TEXT). Only pages 888 and 889 will remain accessible as a source for subtitles for the hearing impaired. Many functions of teletext have been over the last year taken over by new websites, social media and the Electronic Program Guide. The number of RTL TEXT users has dropped, making the service no longer profitable enough to keep alive.
