Rural Kenyan mobile money agents fare better than urban ones

Mobile money transfer businesses in rural Kenya are more profitable than those in urban areas, a survey by Helix Institute of Digital Finance has revealed. In non-Nairobi urban areas, agents' profit increased by 26 percent in 2014, compared with 45 percent in rural areas. The agents attributed the higher profits to lower operating costs and the introduction of new revenue streams.
