Russia imposes music copyright payment on smartwatches

Russia will impose a copyright payment for sold smartwaches, reports Vedomosti. The decision was taken because new models of smartwatches can copy music files onto their memory so that people can listen to music without connecting to a smartphone. Digital photo and video-cameras have been excluded from the list of such devices.

The Russian Union of Copyright Owners will collect payment from companies producing and importing devices.
