Russia offers operators cheap 5G spectrum in exchange for stake in JV - report

Russian operators will receive 5G spectrum without a competitive tender if they give the state a stake in their planned 5G joint venture, according to a draft policy document on the launch and development of 5G services prepared by the Ministry of Communications and seen by Vedemosti. Industry players confirmed the proposal, which is expected to help reduce costs and free up operator funds for investment, the paper said.
