Russia to cut funding for clearing 5G spectrum

The Russian government is planning to cut funding for the release of 5G spectrum to RUB 7.4 billion from 43 billion, reports Izvestia citing a draft decision prepared by the Ministry of Digitalisation. The government plans to save on the release of the 3.4-3.8 GHz bands, which are used by the military, as the 4.8-4.99 GHz spectrum bands have been proposed as anchor bands for the development of 5G in the country.
