Russian competition watchdog opens case against Google

Russia's competition watchdog FAS opened a case against Google over alleged violations of the anti-monopoly law, following a complaint from Russia's biggest search engine Yandex over Google's mobile platform, reports Reuters. Yandex asked the watchdog to investigate whether Google was abusing the dominance of its Android smartphone operating system, restricting access to competing applications. The press service for Google's office in Russia denied anti-competitive behavior, claiming that device makers are free to install the applications they choose and consumers always have complete control
