The Russian retail fixed broadband market was worth RUB 35.3 billion in the second quarter of this year, according to a study by TMT Consulting, up by 3.8 percent year-on-year. The fixed broadband market has become saturated in the cities. The expansion of the LTE network has had an impact and caused a slowdown in the increase.

The residential broadband subscriber base was 33.3 million, up by 1.6 percent, and market penetration was almost 60 percent. ARPU amounted to RUB 356. The top five ISPs served 70 percent of subscribers.

MTS demonstrated the highest absolute number of new subscribers in April-June. The figure grew by 33,000, up by 1.0 percent. Regional fixed operator MGTS, a subsidiary of MTS, held around 36 percent of the broadband subscriber base in Moscow.

Beeline's fixed broadband subscriber increased by 29,000, up by 1.2 percent.

Rostelecom was the leader by subscriber base with over 11.96 million subscribers. ER-Telecom followed with an unchanged base of nearly 3.81 million. The subscriber base of MTS was 3.35 million and Beeline followed with 2.45 million. TTK's fixed broadband subscriber base was also stable at 1.8 million.
