Russian telecom watchdog Roskomnadzor said it will carry out an audit into Facebook’s compliance with Russian legislation in the second half of the year.

Alexander Zharov, head of Roskomnadzor, met Facebook executives in Moscow on 8 February to discuss the company’s compliance with Russian law, the watchdog said in a statement.

The watchdog said in November that it will investigate whether the social network is in line with Russian legal requirements for the storage of personal data of Russian users within the country.
