SABC set to cut almost a third of workforce

Tuesday 30 October 2018 | 09:21 CET | News
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has issued a notice to staff stating that it will retrench thousands of employees in an effort to save costs. The move comes after the broadcaster met with unions in September to discuss the retrenchment of employees to cut its high salary costs. SABC confirmed it will retrench up to 981 permanent employees and 1,200 of its 2,400 freelancers.
