Safaricom, Airtel Kenya may face hefty fines for continued network faults

Tuesday 4 December 2018 | 11:32 CET | News
Safaricom and Airtel could face fines running to millions of shillings for downtime as glitches have continually affected their networks, reports the Standard. The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) said they have had the largest outages reported by mobile users in the past year and the CA is waiting for detailed reports before making a ruling on penalties to be paid. CA Director-General Francis Wangusi said there have been five downtimes reported by two licencees this year, adding that Airtel reported the highest number of network failures during the period under review.
