Safaricom awards managers KES 426 mln in shares

Kenyan operator Safaricom's managers were awarded 15.5 million shares with a current market value of KES 426 million in the year ended March as compensation for their past performance, Business Daily reported. The employees had cashed out 15.1 million units of stock worth KES 415 million the year before, while the company's cumulative spending on the share-based compensation scheme standing at more than KES 3 billion.
