Safaricom Foundation to invest KES 130 mln in vocational training

Safaricom is set to invest KES 130 million to provide a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme to 3,000 young people over the next two years. Its philanthropic foundation has set aside KES 132 million for the scheme. ICT- enabled skill centres will be established for the project, with a pilot phase starting at Waithaka Technical Training Centre in partnership with the County Government of Nairobi, Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) and the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).
