Safaricom FY net profit rises by 38% to KES 31.9 bln

Kenyan operator Safaricom reported a 38 percent increase in its net profit to KES 31.9 billion for the year ended 31 March from 23.04 billion in the previous year, driven by strong growth in EBITDA. Total revenues grew by 13 percent to KES 163.4 billion from KES 144.7 billion, buoyed by 8.3 percent growth in subscriber numbers, increasing ARPUs across data, SMS and M-Pesa. The number of customers grew by 8.3 percent to 23.3 million by 31 March.
