Safaricom gives customers extra airtime, credit to reflect VAT reduction

Safaricom has effected the 2 percent reduction in VAT ordered by President Uhuru Kenyatta as part of measures to cushion Kenyans from the economic effect of the coronavirus pandemic. VAT fell from 16 percent to 14 percent on 01 April. Safaricom said it is reviewing its product and service offerings to effect the new rate and that all prepaid customers will receive 2 percent extra airtime on every period recharge, reflecting the 14 percent VAT.
