Safaricom provides mobile system for student fund disbursement to Higher Education Loans Board

Tuesday 2 March 2021 | 12:48 CET | News
Safaricom has partnered with the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to provide a mobile payment system for students of tertiary institutions to obtain and use their loans and bursaries. This will aid HELB to promote responsible spending, with funds for specific allocations, such as tuition or library fees, only accessible via a certain Paybill account at the recipient's University or TVET institution. The student's upkeep allowance can be transferred to their M-Pesa wallet for everyday use, too.
