Safaricom recovers data service after cable cut

Kenyan operator Safaricom announced partial restoration of data service for its customers, following a cut on the critical East African Marine Systems (TEAMS) undersea cable on 25 February. Maritime officials have confirmed that a shipping vessel caused the cable cut at around midday on 25 February. As a result, Safaricom customers experienced low internet speeds during the period as the firm actively cut over to alternative routes.
