Safaricom says 81,000 homes linked to its fibre

Monday 4 September 2017 | 09:59 CET | News

Kenyan operator Safaricom has connected over 81,000 homes to fibre internet nationwide, Business Daily reported. It now covers nineteen neighbourhoods within Nairobi including South B, Pangani, Ngong and Rongai in Kajiado County. It is also available in Mombasa's Nyali and Bamburi neighbourhoods, parts of Kisumu, Eldoret and Thika towns.

CEO Bob Collymore said Safaricom continues to invest to reach and connect more customers, to meet growing demand for high-speed data connectivity. The rising number of subscription on-demand services like Iflix and Netflix allowing people to stream live programmes in Kenya, and more people opting to work from home, have led to the increased demand for Internet in residential buildings.
