Safaricom shareholders approve KES 74.9 bln dividend payout

Kenyan operator Safaricom;s shareholders have approved a record KES 74.92 billion dividend payout for the financial year ending 31 March, the largest ever dividend payout at the company. Shareholders who attended the company's AGM on 30 August approved a special dividend of KES 0.62 per share, amounting to KES 24.84 billion, and a final ordinary dividend of KES 1.25 per share, which totals KES 50.08 billion. This brings the total divided to be paid out to KES 1.87 a share.
