Samsung tablet penetration passes Apple in Russia

Samsung tablet sales in Russia grew 79.3 percent quarter-on-quarter to 520,000 devices in the third quarter, reports Itar-Tass, citing IDC analyst Natalya Vinogradova. Apple tablet sales jumped 21.4 percent to 340,000 units. Total Russian tablet sales reached 2.4 million units, with Samsung's market penetration up by 6 percentage points to 21 percent. Apple's market penetration of Apple declined by 0.6 percentage points to 14.4 percent, despite the increase in sales. Samsung tablet sales totaled 920,000 units in Russia in 2012, while Apple tablet sales amounted to 890,000 units.
