Santa Cruz introduces IoT-based public lighting system

The municipal government of Bolivia's largest city, Santa Cruz, has announced plans to replace older street lamps with LED technology and add internet-of-things (IoT) sensors to remotely manage the lights across various neighbourhoods and districts, reports BN Americas. The corresponding spectrum was recently cleared for free use by the federal government, which stated that use of frequencies in the 900MHz band simply requires registration with the country's telecommunications regulator ATT.
