Saudi Arabia sees rise in online and mobile shopping

About 46 percent of Saudi consumers shop online, led by people in the 18-24 age bracket, according to a MasterCard survey. It found that shopping via mobile phones is increasing, with 26 percent of respondents planning to do this in the coming months. The survey found the greatest proportion of online spend is occurring on music download sites, with 64 percent of respondents in the kingdom preferring to purchase music online rather than at traditional outlets. Other leading categories are computer software (57%), airlines (50%) and online products/services for gaming/virtual world (48%).
