Scotland broadband programme gets GBP 15.6 mln extra

Scotland announced GBP 15.6 million in additional funding to expand access to faster broadband services. The money is part of the so-called clawback agreement with BT, that sees the operator return part of the public funding received earlier for broadband expansion if there is high uptake in upgraded areas. The additional funding will have a particular focus on maximising the numbers of premises that have access to speeds of greater than 24Mbps, especially in rural and new-build areas. Funding will be targeted on areas with the lowest speed coverage, including Aberdeenshire, Angus, Dumfries
