Seacom urges intra-African terrestrial fibre infrastructure

Undersea fibre-optic cable operator Seacom's CEO, Mark Simpson, said intra-African terrestrial fibre infrastructure is required to maximise the benefits of international connectivity, Engineering News reported. Speaking at the Satcom conference in South Africa, Simpson stressed the importance of investing in inland infrastructure, saying Southern Africa is now sufficiently supported by undersea cables. Broadband Infraco operations manager Peter Mafagana said that the deployment of terrestrial fibre networks throughout Southern Africa was critical in connecting landlocked countries to South
