Security appliance growth continues in Q2 with UTM leading the way

Worldwide security appliance revenue increased 17.0 percent year over year to USD 3.6 billion, according to data from IDC. Unit shipments experienced similar growth, increasing 9.9 percent quarter over quarter and 25.3 percent year over year to 921,278 units. The top 5 vendors are Cisco with a 15.5 percent market share, Palo Alto Networks with 14.4 percent, Fortinet and Check Point each with 10.7 percent and Symantec with 4.3 percent.
