Senegal's internet penetration rises to 88% at end-September

Senegal experienced a significant jump in internet adoption during the third quarter, driven by growing take-up of handset-based mobile subscriptions. According to the latest report from telecom regulator ARTP, overall internet penetration reached 88 percent at end-September, up from 81 percent in the previous quarter and 67 percent in Q3 2019. Out of total internet users, 98 percent relied on a handset-based mobile connection, representing an installed base of 14.0 million (up by 3.7 million from September 2019).
