SES and Gilat Telecom say joint efforts restored connectivity quickly in DRC after WACS cable cut

Monday 10 February 2020 | 11:01 CET | News
High-performance internet connectivity was restored in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) within four days of the West Africa Cable System (WACS) undersea line cut, through the combined efforts of Gilat Telecom and SES. The recent cable cuts affected much of Sub-Saharan Africa, causing internet outages and slow speeds. The restoration of service to Gilat Telecom's DRC customers was achieved using O3b Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite capabilities.
