SFR fails to overturn ruling on fibre definition in adverts

France's Council of State has dismissed a case brought by SFR to overturn a ruling from March 2016 which prevented the operator from using the word 'fibre' to advertise its broadband services delivered over hybrid fibre-coaxial technology, unless the distinction from FTTH was made clear. One of the main arguments supporting the case was that, by issuing the ruling, the ministry for the economy, industry and digital affairs, had overstepped its powers.
