SFR invests EUR 1.6 bln in networks in 2010

French mobile and broadband operator SFR has announced that it invested EUR 1.6 billion in fixed and mobile network infrastructure in 2010. It states that it is currently the only operator to offer over 20 Mbps speeds over half of its mobile network, enabling a 100 MB video to be downloaded in 38 seconds. Its 3G/3G+ network covers 97 percent of the population at the end of September. That month it ran an LTE demonstration in Marseille as part of its efforts to bring faster mobile data services to France's over 7 million smartphone users.
