ShowMax partners with Seacom in East Africa

South African online video streaming service ShowMax has partnered with Seacom to launch broadband submarine cables along Africa's eastern and southern coastlines. Seacom will host ShowMax caching servers in Nairobi, allowing peering with local ISPs. ShowMax Head of Distribution Mike Raath said that in addition to improving customer service, the agreement lowers costs for local ISPs. Placing caching servers in Nairobi means customers can pull video from much closer to home, which means faster response time and less buffering.
