Silica Networks launches new Argentina-Chile fibre connection

Argentinian telecommunications service provider Silica Networks has inaugurated a 1,140 kilometre fibre optic cable between Argentina and Chile in a total investment of around USD 8.5 million. The new route connects the two countries via the Mamuil Malal border point and is part of Chile's public-private project to enhance connectivity, above all in remote areas, with a view to reducing the country's digital divide and allowing equal access to new technologies.
