SK Telecom, Samsung partner on LPWAN tech development

South Korean mobile operator SK Telecom has signed a partnership agreement with Samsung Electro-Mechanics. SK Telecom and Samsung Electro-Mechanics plan to cooperate on the development of a power-efficient network technology for Internet of Things (IoT) products, Yonhap news agency reports. Under the terms of the agreement, SK and Samsung will jointly develop the Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) technology, which allows long-range communication with less energy consumption.
