Sky insists that Openreach reform would not harm BT pensions

A new report from law firm Sackers says that BT's pension scheme would not be affected if Openreach was spun off as a legally separate subsidiary, reports The Telegraph. The report says there are various 'straightforward options' for maintaining the pension scheme if Openreach became independent with control over its own cash flow. BT has argued with regulators and the Government that the retirements of around 300,000 current and former employees could be put at risk by reform. However, Sackers believes there is no restriction from 'a pensions perspective to achieving functional and legal
