Sky invests 25% more in content, as customer adds get boost from Game of Thrones in Q1

The Sky Group added 160,000 new customers in the fourth quarter, up 51 percent from the year before and helped by strong campaigns in all markets across all markets around Game of Thrones 7. Customer growth was strong in Germany & Austria, as well as in the UK & Ireland with the addition of 90,000 (+84%) and 70,000 (100%) respectively. Customer additions in Italy wereflat year-on-year. Sky said it wants to now put the focus on broadening its offering, especially in Europe. To that end, the company will be investing 25 percent more in Sky Originals programming across all of its territories.
