Sky Italia, Mediaset secure Italian TV football rights

Italian broadcasters Sky Italia and Mediaset have been awarded the rights to televise Serie A, Italy's top-flight football league, between 2015 and 2018 after several weeks of competing bids, reports Corriere della Sera. The auction for the Serie A rights, managed by Infront Italy SRL, included 4 main TV-rights packages, with Sky securing the TV rights for a total of 380 Serie A matches for EUR 572 million as well as the package D rights that include 132 matches involving 12 teams. Mediaset won the right to show 248 matches of 8 leading teams on its DTT platform with an offer of EUR 373
