Smart home device shipments to pass 1.4 billion in 2025 - IDC

Friday 26 March 2021 | 15:52 CET | News
The number of smart home devices shipped in 2020 rose 4.5 percent year-on-year to 801.5 million, and could pass 1.4 billion in 2025, according to the latest study from IDC. Shipments will get a boost from home automation products and the increasing prevalence of ambient computing through smart speakers and other products. Growth may be slowed over the coming year by several factors, including ongoing concerns about security and privacy, prices for devices and services, and the economic uncertainty stemming from the volatility of labour and financial markets across the world.
