Smart speaker sales rise over 8% in Q1 to 28.2 mln, bucking generally depressed market

Smart speakers sales worldwide rose 8.2 percent in the first quarter, defying a market largely depressed by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the latest study from Strategy Analytics revealed. Sales reached 28.2 million led by Amazon and Google, with Chinese vendors coming under pressure due to challenges on their home market. However, as Chinese supply chains return to normal and North American and European markets showing the impact of their lockdowns, the US companies will likely themselves come under pressure in the second quarter.
