Smart Telecom shuts down operations in Tanzania

The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) says Smart Telecom has ended its operations in the country after submitting a business closure request to the regulator in March, The Citizen reported. Emmanuel Manasseh, acting TCRA director-general, said it decided to give the mobile phone company three months to enable customers to exhaust their outstanding credit, although the company had requested immediate closure.
