Smartphone momentum picks up as sales grow 2.7% in Q3 - IDC

The global smartphone market grew 2.7 percent year-on-year in the third quarter to 373.1 million units, as momentum picked up following a 1.3 percent contraction in the second quarter, according to latest figures from IDC. During the lead-in quarter to the holiday season all of the top 5 vendors experienced positive year-on-year growth, with Xiaomi more than doubling its sales compared to Q3 2016, while Apple's share stayed flat.
