Smartphone sales in Brazil up 20 percent in Q3

Smartphone sales in Brazil rose 20 percent in the third quarter from the second quarter to 10.4 million units, according to the latest figures from IDC published by Terra. In annual terms, the increase was 147 percent. Sales of feature phones were down 33 percent compared with the same period in 2012 and by 5 percent in comparison with the previous quarter. Including feature phones, sales of handsets reached 17.9 million units in Brazil in the third quarter. Of the 10.4 million smartphones sold in Brazil in the reference period, 90 percent were devices with the Android operating system.
