Smartphones take 55% of handset market in Portugal

Smartphones now represent 55 percent of all mobile phones sold in Portugal, with Android by far the most popular operating system and Samsung the brand that sells the most, according to IDC. In the second quarter of 2013, more smartphones were sold than basic (feature) phones for the first time. A total 1.04 million mobile phones were sold, a drop of 3 percent on the same period last year. Smartphone sales rose 25 percent year-on-year to 570,000 units.
