SMS New Year greetings continue to lose popularity in France

Three of the main French operators have seen a drop in SMS numbers exchanged to greet the start of the New Year, reports La Tribune. Bouygues Telecom reported the largest fall (-10%), followed by Orange (-6%) and Free Mobile (-4%). Overall, approximately 200 million messages were sent over these three networks on the night of 31 December, from 21:00 hrs to 02:00 hrs on 01 January. This compares with the record number of 1 billion sent on the last night of 2012.
