Social networks popular with older internet users - survey

Over two thirds (68%) of German internet users aged 50-64 are registered with at least one social network, according to a survey by ICT industry group Bitkom. This is up from 60 percent in 2011. The proportion of internet users aged over 65 registered with a social network has grown over the same period from 40 percent to 66 percent. Overall, three quarters (78%) of all internet users in Germany have a profile on at least one social networks, of which 67 percent are active users.
