Softbank's Q1 profit drops 58.7%

Japanese communications carrier Softbank saw its net income decrease by 58 percent to JPY 111.3 billion in the fiscal first quarter ended 30 June from JPY 269.6 billion a year earlier. Net sales jumped 126.1 percent to JPY 881.07 billion from JPY 1.9 trillion. The growth was mainly due to the consolidation of Sprint, Brightstar, Supercell, and Willcom (currently Ymobile Corporation). Domestic mobile communications sales went up 33.4 percent to JPY 882.90 billion. Softbank added 557,000 mobile subscribers in the quarter, bringing its total to 36.4 million. Willcom had 5.31 million subscribers,
