Some Nigerian mobile money firms miss capitalisation date

Some mobile money operators in the country have missed Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) deadline for NGN 2 billion capitalisation requirements, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek reported. The apex bank had issued a directive to all mobile money operators in the country to capitalise to the tune of NGN 2 billion, up from NGN 20 million, by 31 May. Only mobile money services operated by deposit banks and a few operators have been successful, while others are struggling to meet the directive.
