Sonatel attracts 1.25 mln Orange Money customers

Senegalese operator Sonatel reported that it had attracted 1.25 million users of the Orange Money electronic fund transfer service since its launch in April 2010. The system widely used for payments and money transfers within the West African country as well as for remittances from abroad, now has 2,000 distributors. The 5.5 million transactions in the first 9 months of 2013 accounted for XOF 27 billion of volume. Sonatel has also signed up more than 10 commercial partners for bill payment and service purchasing.
