South African government mulls public-private partnership model for SA Connect broadband scheme

It appears that the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies is exploring partnerships with the private sector to execute the government's SA Connect project to provide universal broadband, reports ITWeb. The scheme has encountered numerous issues that have hampered its full implementation. It now seems that the DCDT has conceded that the private-public partnership (PPPs) model is better placed to attract necessary resources and funding, it added.
