South African government owes SABC ZAR 60 mln in TV licence and advertising fees

The South African government owes almost ZAR 60 million in TV licence and advertising fees to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), MyBroadband reported. Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams told Parliament during questions posed by DA MP Phumzile van Damme that about ZAR 18.7 million is owed by 126 provincial departments, and 20 national departments have outstanding TV licence fees totalling nearly ZAR1.7 million.
