South Korea to invest KRW 1.2 tln in drone industry

The South Korean government plans to invest KRW 1.2 trillion (approximately USD 1.06 billion) in the drone industry over the next five years. South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport aims to make the domestic drone market reach KRW 4.1 trillion in value by 2027, up from the current KRW 70.4 billion, The Korea Times reports. The Ministry also urged industry leaders to focus more on industrial drones for observation, construction, agriculture, energy and telecommunications, and introduce 60,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the next 10 years.
