Spain adds 157,000 FTTH lines in February to hit 3.4 mln

Spanish FTTH connections exceeded 3.4 million at the end of February, having added a total of 157,116 new lines, according to the latest data released by telecoms regulator CNMC. Around 69.3 percent of FTTH lines belonged to Movistar (Telefonica), although the operator's rivals topped 1 million active lines for the first time, reaching a combined total of 1.05 million connections. The total number of fixed broadband lines stood at 13.26 million in February, up 78,228 over the month, with the number of FTTH and HFC adds offsetting the 146,449 decline in ADSL connections. Some 95 percent of the
