Spain assigns 15 million new landline numbers in 15 Spanish provinces

Spain's Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure has assigned new fixed line local area codes starting with the number 8 instead of 9 in a total of 15 of the country's provinces. Spain's communications regulator CNMC announced that 1 million new codes will be released in Alicante (865), Almeria (850), Cadiz (856), Cantabria (842), Ciudad Real (826), Huelva (859), Jaen (853), Lleida (873), Lugo (882), Madrid (815), Malaga (852), Navarra (848), Salamanca (823), Seville (854) and Valencia (860) in view of the risk of exhausting the available numbers in the short or
